Bengaluru, May 28: Minister for Medical Education, Skill Development, Livelihood and In-Charge of Raichur District Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil has strongly criticized BJP MLC N Ravi Kumar for calling the deputy commissioner of Kalaburagi a Pakistani.
Addressing the reporters at Vikasa Soudha on Tuesday, the minister said, “The BJP has lost its sense of reason. Making such a controversial statement against an IAS officer is deeply regrettable. Even schoolchildren wouldn’t speak this way. Such people are unfit to be in public life.”
He pointed out that the IAS Officers’ Association has already written a letter demanding an apology from Ravi Kumar for his controversial remark. “A leader of the legislative council making such statements reflects ignorance,” Patil said.
“They have lost the ability to differentiate between right and wrong while speaking. They are like fish out of water after losing power,” he remarked.
On the issue of the sandal soap brand ambassador controversy, Patil accused the BJP of deliberately trying to create societal division. “The people of Karnataka are enlightened. They have already punished the BJP for its corruption. It’s time the party understood that,” he added.
Minister defends CM’s absence at NITI Aayog Meeting:
Responding to criticism over chief minister Siddaramaiah’s absence from the recent NITI Aayog meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil said, “There is nothing wrong in the CM skipping the meeting. Our Revenue Minister represented the state government.”
He added, “Even the Prime Minister himself has skipped several previous NITI Aayog meetings, which were then chaired by the finance ministers. Even if we attend these meetings, it’s a one-way discussion where we only get to listen, with no time or opportunity to speak. Why should we attend such meetings?” he questioned journalists.
