Planning to set up a seperate corporation for jawans: DCM

Bengaluru, May 29: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday said that the state government was planning to set up a seperate corporation for ex servicemen.

Speaking at the Jai Hind Sabha event organised by the Congress party to honour the armed forces, he said, “We are contemplating setting a seperate corporation as per the advice of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. We are committed to protect our servicemen who protect our nation.”

“I would like to thank all the servicemen for their contribution to the security of the nation. This event is a testimony that Congress party remembers and recognises our soldiers contribution,” he said.

Felicitation of ex servicemen and martyrs

Several ex servicemen, families of martyrs were felicitated on the occasion including Ashok Chakra recipient Major Unnikrishnan, Ashok Chakra recipient Colnel Jojan Thomas, Shaurya Chakra recipient Major M C Muttanna, Shaurya Chakra recipient Major Ganesh Maddappa, Shaurya Chakra recipient Captain M V Panjal, Shaurya Chakra recipient Major Mohan Gangadharan, Major Shafiq Mohammed Khan, Sena medal winner Colnel Ramamurthy.

The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee had organised the Jai Hind Sabha as per the directions of the All India Congress Committee. More than a thousand defence personnel including senior officials, ex servicemen and families of martyrs attended the function.
