Officials warned to act responsibly: D.S. Ramesh

A major pedestrian encroachment clearance drive and intensive cleanliness campaign was carried out today from Iblur Junction to Tin Factory under the limits of the City Corporation , informed Bengaluru East City Corporation Commissioner D.S. Ramesh.

Side drains to be cleaned and slabs repaired:

The Commissioner personally inspected the stretch from Iblur Junction to Tin Factory this morning, covering the roads, side drains, and pedestrian pathways. He directed officials to ensure that the drains are cleaned thoroughly for smooth water flow and instructed the repair of broken drain slabs. During the inspection, he cautioned the officials to carry out their duties responsibly, warning that strict action would be taken against those who fail to perform their duties diligently.

Notices to be issued to unauthorized encroachers:

Along the pedestrian pathways from Iblur Junction to Tin Factory, several temporary shops were found encroaching on the footpaths. The Commissioner instructed officials to immediately issue notices to these unauthorized vendors, levy fines, and take prompt action to clear the encroachments.

Issue notices to vacant plot owners:

During the inspection, it was observed that several vacant plots lacked cleanliness. The Commissioner directed officials to issue notices to the respective property owners, instructing them to maintain cleanliness. If the owners fail to clean their plots within the stipulated time, the city corporation will clean them and recover the expenses through fines.

Notice to private hospital:

A private hospital in the area was found to be at an elevated level, and water from the hospital was directly flowing onto the road through open drains, causing potholes. The Commissioner instructed the hospital to construct a soak pit and reuse the water, and directed concerned officials to issue a notice to the hospital.

Coordination with BMRCL:

Regarding the removal of debris and waste accumulated along metro pillars and railway tracks, the Commissioner directed officials to coordinate with BMRCL and take necessary steps to clear the debris and garbage.

Beautification of black spots in coordination with Sahasa volunteers group:

In collaboration with the Solid Waste Management Department and Sahasa volunteers group, the Commissioner participated in a beautification initiative by cleaning and transforming areas where garbage was being illegally dumped.

Prepare a micro plan for effective execution:

The Commissioner emphasized the importance of ward-level micro planning. He advised officials to identify local issues through discussions and prioritize tasks accordingly, stating that results would be more effective if actions are taken based on a well-structured micro plan.

Action plan to clean market areas:

The Additional Commissioner (Development) instructed officials to identify areas within the city corporation that are being used as marketplaces and prepare an action plan for conducting intensive cleaning operations at night in those locations.

The inspection was attended by Additional Commissioner (Development) Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar, Deputy General Manager of BSWML, Executive Engineers (Mahadevapura Division), BWSSB AGM and other senior officials.
