Bengaluru, 5 November 2025: A new traffic signal in front of the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) has been opened to improve road safety and facilitate vehicle movement near the Madavara metro station and BIEC entrance. The initiative aims to ensure safety for commuters along the busy Tumkur Road. The traffic signal was inaugurated by Shri S.R. Vishwanath, Hon’ble MLA, Yelahanka Constituency.
Speaking at the inauguration, Shri Vishwanath emphasised that installing a traffic signal at the intersection connecting NICE Road, BIEC, and the Madavara Metro station was a crucial step towards improving commuter safety. He praised the efforts of BIEC, which hosts major exhibitions and events, drawing large crowds to the area, for its funding and execution of the initiative. Shi Vishwanath said that this was the beginning, and plans are underway to install traffic signals along the entire highway up to Nelamangala.
Appreciating the efforts of BIEC, Shri C.K. Baba IPS, Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Rural, stated that the traffic signal at the BIEC entrance was greatly needed, and BIEC’s initiative to install the traffic signal system significantly helps in regulating traffic flow, especially during major events.
“The new traffic signal is a welcome development to improve the overall safety and convenience for both vehicle owners and pedestrians using the highway. It provides a safe passage for people living in and around BIEC. The signal will greatly benefit exhibition organisers and visitors commuting to the venue, said Jibak Dasgupta, Director General & CEO, IMTMA and BIEC. He also acknowledged the continued support extended to BIEC by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Bengaluru Rural Police.
