Bangalore, June 17: In a strategic push to attract international investment and position Karnataka as a leading global hub for advanced manufacturing, telecommunications, and medical technology, Shri M.B. Patil, Hon’ble Minister for Large and Medium Industries & Infrastructure Development, Government of Karnataka, led a high-level delegation to Sweden. The objective of the visit was to engage with global industry leaders and explore collaborative opportunities that align with Karnataka’s long-term industrial growth strategy.
The delegation held productive meetings with senior executives from SKF, Ericsson, and Getinge—three globally respected companies with a growing interest in India’s evolving industrial landscape.
Shri MB Patil met with SKF, where CTO Ms. Annika Olme presented the company’s current operations in Karnataka and its future expansion roadmap. SKF outlined plans to double the capacity of its seals manufacturing unit in Mysuru and invest further in its brownfield operations in Bengaluru, including facilities for ball bearings and lubrication systems.
Shri MB Patil extended full support and showcased the state’s investor-friendly policies, particularly the new Industrial Policy that offers attractive incentives for women’s employment and sustainable manufacturing practices. SKF acknowledged Karnataka’s progressive industrial climate and both sides expressed strong intent to deepen the relationship.
In a key interaction with Ericsson, a global leader in telecommunications and 5G technologies, the Karnataka delegation led by Shri MB Patil discussed opportunities to scale up the company’s engagement in the state. The Minister highlighted Karnataka’s strengths in skilled talent, research capabilities, and its fast-growing ecosystem for electronics and network equipment manufacturing.
Shri MB Patil encouraged Ericsson to expand its R&D footprint and consider Karnataka for manufacturing operations. Ericsson appreciated the discussion and expressed interest in evaluating the investment opportunities. The delegation also toured Ericsson’s facility to view live demonstrations of their 5G innovations.
Shri MB Patil also held a strategic meeting with Getinge, a global med-tech company with an established R&D presence in Bengaluru. The Government invited Getinge to explore manufacturing opportunities in Karnataka, emphasizing the state’s emergence as a competitive med-tech manufacturing hub.
A detailed presentation was made on Karnataka’s industrial infrastructure, policy support, and growing ecosystem for life sciences and healthcare technologies. Getinge shared its global vision, current operations, and expressed a willingness to explore future investment avenues in Karnataka.
