Bengaluru, Feb. 3: It was a matter of pride that former Deputy Prime Minister L.K.Advami has been conferred the ‘Bharat Ratna’, a highest civilian award, and he is a real Son of the Soil, said Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He told reporters here on Saturday that Advani came and settled in Bharat during India-Pakistan partition. A big compliment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for selecting Advani for the Bharat Ratna award.
“Advani started his public life through Jan Sangh and displayed his patriotism for the country by participating in the Kashmir agitation started by Syam Prakash Mukherjee. Through the Ram Janma Bhumi agitation, he emotionally United the people of the country. Thanks to his efforts, the Ram Mandir, a dream of millions of people, has become a reality. As Union Home Minister, Advani strengthened internal security of the nation and made Bharat a strong nation. He is popularly known as an Iron Man of Bharat. The former deputy prime minister was very close to my father and would visit our house while in Bengaluru. It was a matter of pride that the Bharat Ratna award has been conferred on him. My congratulations to him”, Bommai said.
