Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai has said that Karnataka is turning into a lawless state, with crimes such as daylight robberies and heinous assaults on young children occurring regularly, leaving offenders fearless.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), he condemned the recent incident in Bidar, where individuals replenishing cash in an ATM were shot and killed in broad daylight, shocking the entire state. He criticized the current administration, stating that leaders are more focused on fighting for power rather than governance, leaving the police force without effective control. The police have lost control over criminals, turning Karnataka into a “Jungle Raj.”
He said during this government’s tenure, neither humans nor animals are safe. Bommai demanded that the state government immediately take strict action against the culprits and impose severe punishments. He warned that failure to do so could lead to public unrest and rebellion.
Demand for Tungabhadra Water Testing
In Mundaragi taluk’s Korlahalli area of Gadag district, the Tungabhadra River has turned green, causing alarm among local residents. Concerns have been raised that the discoloration may be due to polluted water or chemicals entering the river from external sources.
The district administration has been urged to immediately investigate and identify the cause. Officials have been asked to send water samples for testing and implement precautionary measures to ensure that neither the public nor livestock consume the contaminated water. Prompt action by the district authorities is being demanded in this regard.
