Bengaluru, November 29, 2025: Determined to secure better sports infrastructure for their children, residents of Jeevanahalli in Sarvagnanagar took to the streets on Saturday, demanding that work on the football turf continue despite mounting opposition.
Thanks to the foresight of Energy Minister and Sarvagnanagar MLA K. J. George, an international-standard football turf is being built in Jeevanahalli. However, some people posing as locals had recently spread false allegations claiming that the facility would be made available only to select beneficiaries and not to the general public, and that fees would be collected for its use. Opposing this misinformation, schoolchildren and residents of Sarvagnanagar held a protest near the sports ground.

The protesters urged Minister K. J. George to complete the construction of the ground as soon as possible. They claimed, “Those who cannot tolerate such a high-quality sports facility coming up in Jeevanahalli are spreading misinformation. Our MLA must not bow down to such cheap threats and should provide the sports infrastructure.”
With the special initiative of the Sarvagnanagar Sports and Cultural Welfare Association and Energy Minister K. J. George, a sports complex and football turf are being constructed in Jeevanahalli through CSR funds. The complex will feature a yoga and gymnasium area on the ground floor, two badminton courts on the first floor, and a spectator gallery around the football turf. Locals said that this modern sports complex will become an inspiring space for children.

A Place Once Troubled by Misuse
Before the sports ground was developed, locals—especially women and children—were afraid to come to the area after evening hours. Drunkards and miscreants made the place unsafe, troubling women and young children. Minister K. J. George’s solution to this problem was the creation of a “Sports Hub.” While the decision brought relief to the locals, recent misinformation has created new anxiety. Residents of Jeevanahalli were compelled to protest today, insisting that the dream project should not be abandoned.
“This sports ground in Jeevanahalli must become a hub of inspiration for our children’s future in sports. Earlier, drunkards occupied this place, and women and children could not even walk on this road. We were all happy when the minister announced this project. Opposing such a plan is not right. This ground will greatly benefit the children of Jeevanahalli.”
— Rajashekhar, local resident
“Women of Jeevanahalli used to be scared to pass by this field. Thanks to the timely decision by our leader K. J. George, this place is now turning into a sports ground. It will be convenient for walking in the mornings and evenings. We request that the project be completed soon without paying attention to false propaganda.”
— Ashwini Devi, Jeevanahalli resident
