Bengaluru, June 6: In a significant development, the state government has issued an order appointing IPS officer Hemant Nimbalkar as the Commissioner of the Department of the Information and Public Relations (DIPR). The decision was announced on Tuesday, marking a crucial appointment in the media and communication sector.
Hemant Nimbalkar, 1998-batch IPS officer, the Karnataka cadre officer will now head the News and Broadcasting Department as its Commissioner. As an IPS officer, Nimbalkar has a proven track record of serving in various responsible roles within the administration.
Nimbalkar succeeded Vinoth Priya, an IAS officer, who held the additional charge of the DIPR commissioner for a short stint.
Nimbalkar had gone on a long study leave as per the government order dated January 12, 2022. But the state government issued an order cutting short his study leave with immediate effect.
Dr Anjali Hemant Nimbalkar is the spouse of Hemant Nimbalkar, who had contested 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections from Khanapur constituency on Congress ticket.
