Innovation in Mental and Neurological Health Through DEEPAS

IIIT-B Innovation Centre and NIMHANS Collaborate

Bengaluru, Feb7: The IIIT-B Innovation Centre, in collaboration with NIMHANS, successfully conducted the Deep Engagement Encouragement Program for Agile Startups (DEEPAS) at the NIMHANS campus. The initiative brought together nine promising deeptech startups and twelve eminent doctors from NIMHANS to explore innovative solutions in mental health and neurological care, with a focus on affordability, sustainability, and quality-driven impact.

The DEEPAS program aims to accelerate research-driven solutions in stress management, gait analysis, sleep disorders, and brain wave monitoring & therapy. By bridging the gap between technology-driven entrepreneurs and seasoned medical professionals, the event facilitated in-depth discussions on clinical viability, go-to-market (GTM) strategies, and business model development for healthcare startups.

Participating Startups and Medical Experts:

The event featured innovative solutions from startups such as Samjna Analytics, Cognidiagnose AI, Nirvesh Enterprises, Sparhminds, Sensio Enterprises, Mocxa Health, Bearly Technologies, Innovocare Health Tech, and Co-Guide. These startups had the opportunity to engage with distinguished medical experts from NIMHANS, including Dr. Vivek Benegal, Dr. Girish N. Rao, Dr. Suvarna Alladi, Dr. Selva Ganapathy, Dr. Vivek, Dr. Lakshmanan, Dr. Himanshu, Dr. Jayanth, Dr. Barath Holla, Dr. Raghavendra, and Dr. Faheem.

Key Discussions and Outcomes

The event facilitated an interactive platform where startups showcased their innovative solutions while receiving valuable clinical insights from top medical professionals at NIMHANS. The discussion not only provided clarity on medical validation but also strengthened startups’ understanding of the commercialization process in the healthcare sector.

By combining technology with medical expertise, DEEPAS is driving impactful, affordable, and sustainable solutions in mental and neurological health. Moving forward, IIIT-B Innovation Centre will continue to work closely with these startups, offering guidance on clinical robustness and business scalability, ensuring long-term success and adoption.

Prof.Debabrata Das , Director, IIIT-B appreciated this initiative and said that unique initiatives like these are definitely the need of the hour as they not only promote innovation and  entrepreneurship but also facilitate co creation of solutions with clinical support from top notch institutions like NIMHANS

Dr.Lakshmi Jagannathan. CEO, Innovation Centre said that this interaction was the first step in enabling the clinicians to associate with relevant startups. She also added that in the next two to three years, these startups will be provided holistic support to fine tune their clinical solutions and deploy them in the community with the clinical mentoring and handholding with NIMHANS and Karnataka Brain Health Initiative.
