Bengaluru, May 31: Lashing out at the Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka for saying that the police stations in Karnataka need protection, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar today said it was the BJP which tried to saffronise the police force in Karnataka.
Speaking to reporters in Kanakapura, he retorted, “Has Ashoka forgotten that the BJP government was the one which made the police wear saffron clothes during festivals.”
Asked about BJP’s deadline of June 6th for Congress minister Nagendra’s resignation, he said, “Why are they waiting till then, let them protest from now itself. They are not raising issues that needs to be raised but they are issuing deadlines for things like these.” Replying to a query on Eshwarappa’s demand for Nagendra’s resignation on moral grounds, he said, “Let the investigation bring out the truth, there is no question of protecting anyone.”
Confident of a win
“I have come to Kanakapura to campaign for our candidate Ramoji Gowda who is contesting the Bengaluru Graduates’ constituency. The BJP and JDS have joined hands for this election, but we are confident that our candidate will emerge victorious,” he said.
Asked about the Legislative Council candidates list, he said a shortlist of candidates has been submitted and the Congress High Command would take a decision.
Asked if he was doing any special pooja to counter the effects of black magic against him, he said, “Time will tell who was behind the black magic. I have the blessings of people and the God and it will protect me.”
Replying to the arrest of Prajwal Revanna, he said, “I saw it on the media. SIT is investigating the case and it will take its course.”
