Bangalore, February 6: Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, lauded the National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from the Karnataka and Goa Directorate for their outstanding participation in the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.
Speaking at a felicitation ceremony held at the Glass House of Raj Bhavan, the Governor emphasized the vital role of the NCC in shaping disciplined, motivated, and leadership-driven youth. “The National Cadet Corps aims to create a group of organized, trained, and motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life,” he remarked.

Congratulating the cadets, the Governor expressed his pride in their exceptional performance during the Republic Day Parade and other prestigious events. “It is my privilege to felicitate the NCC cadets of Karnataka and Goa Directorates for their commendable participation in the Republic Day Parade and associated events in New Delhi. Your dedication and commitment to duty have brought great honor to your directorate,” he stated.
The Governor also highlighted the remarkable achievement of the cadets in securing the prestigious Prime Minister’s Banner for 2024-25 in the Republic Day Banner Competition. “Being selected for the Republic Day Parade is an achievement in itself. This year’s parade was even more special as our Republic completed 75 years. These memories will stay with you for a lifetime,” he added.
Recognizing the NCC’s significant role in nation-building, he underscored the organization’s core values. “NCC fosters character-building, discipline, and a spirit of volunteerism among the youth, preparing them to be responsible citizens and future leaders, regardless of their chosen careers,” he said. He also reiterated the NCC’s motto, “Unity and Discipline,” and its impact in shaping young Indians to contribute to national progress.
The Governor further emphasized the importance of environmental conservation, urging cadets to actively participate in initiatives such as afforestation, water conservation, and plastic-free campaigns. “Global challenges like climate change demand collective efforts. NCC has been playing a crucial role in environmental awareness, and I encourage cadets to lead the way in sustainability efforts,” he stated.

Commending the leadership of Air Commodore S.B. Arun Kumar, Deputy Director General of the Karnataka and Goa NCC Directorate, the Governor acknowledged the Directorate’s achievements and accolades in various NCC activities.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by Air Commodore S.B. Arun Kumar and other dignitaries, marking a proud moment for the Karnataka and Goa NCC Directorate.
