Greater Focus on Affordable Organ Transplantation Service— Dr. Patil

B.G. Nagar (Mandya), Oct. 25: The state government is committed to transforming the state into a healthier Karnataka. We are now according top priority to the rapidly growing and essential field of organ transplantation, said Dr. Sharanprakash R. Patil, Minister for Medical Education, Skill Development, Livelihood, and In-charge Minister for Raichur District.

Speaking after inaugurating the 2025 induction programme for MBBS and Allied Health Science students of Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, held in the presence of Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji, the minister highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the government.

“We have already implemented key programmes through our Institute of Gastroenterology and Organ Transplantation. Organ transplants are being successfully conducted in government institutions. Our goal is to ensure good health for all,” he said.

Dr. Patil added, “Getting an organ transplant in private hospitals costs several lakhs of rupees. The government is committed to offering these advanced medical services at affordable costs using state-of-the-art equipment.”

“To further strengthen the organ transplant ecosystem, we are constructing a 10-storey facility in Bengaluru dedicated to this purpose. Our aim is to make organ transplant services accessible and affordable to those in need,” he stated.

The minister noted that under the Congress government, the Department of Medical Education has received increased funding and support, helping to move toward the vision of a healthy Karnataka. “Not only medical education, but other departments too are being strengthened,” he added.

Dr. Patil advised that students entering the medical field should possess a strong spirit of service and compassion. “Doctors must treat patients with empathy. If your hands have skill and your heart has kindness, the patient is already halfway healed,” he said.

Among those present were Dr. Arundhati Chandrashekar, Dr. N.S. Nagesh, Dr. S.N. Sridhar (Vice-Chancellors, Adichunchanagiri University), Dr. C.K. Subbaraya (Registrar, ACU), Dr. M.G. Shivarama (Principal, AIMS), faculty members, students, and parents.
