Governor Urges Students to Contribute Towards Nation-Building

4th Convocation Ceremony of Bangalore City University Held in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, 11 June 2025: “The strength of educated youth can transform the future of the nation. No matter which field you choose—science, technology, business, arts, or social service—your dedication and efforts will lead India towards progress,” said Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot.

He was addressing the graduates at the 4th Convocation Ceremony of Bangalore City University held in Bengaluru today. Delivering his convocation address, the Governor quoted Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, stating, “Dreams are not what you see in sleep, dreams are those that do not let you sleep.” He emphasized that education is the most valuable tool to achieve those dreams and shape a purposeful life.

“Education is not only a means to employment, but also instills morality, compassion, and a sense of social responsibility,” the Governor said. Recalling Swami Vivekananda’s ideals, he noted that youth power forms the foundation of a strong and self-reliant nation.
Highlighting India’s rich legacy of intellectual contributions—from Vedic knowledge to modern innovations—he remarked on the nation’s pioneering achievements in mathematics, astronomy, medicine, and more. “Indian mathematicians introduced the world to zero and the decimal system. Our heritage is a beacon of knowledge, and we must take pride in our regional languages and culture to reclaim our role as a ‘Vishwaguru’,” he added.
The Governor also applauded the National Education Policy (NEP), which emphasizes the use of regional languages as a medium of instruction and aims to make education more inclusive, practical, and rooted in Indian values.

He called upon the students to align their personal aspirations with the national vision and actively contribute towards transforming India into a developed nation by 2047.
The convocation was graced by Justice P.B. Bajantri, Judge of Patna High Court, and Prof. K.R. Jalja, Acting Vice Chancellor of Bangalore City University, along with faculty members, students, and dignitaries.
