“Tricolour Unfurls at Raj Bhavan”

Bengaluru, Aug. 15: On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, hoisted the National Flag in the courtyard of Raj Bhavan and paid floral tributes to the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and the architect of the Constitution, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. A guard of honour was presented by the police contingent led by Chief Security Officer ACP Ningareddy.
The Governor extended Independence Day greetings to the people of Karnataka and to the officers, staff, and police personnel of Raj Bhavan. He urged all to pledge their commitment towards building a great and prosperous India and serving the motherland with dedication.

In his address, the Governor said, “This day commemorates the indomitable courage, sacrifice, and selflessness of the great heroes of our freedom struggle. On this Independence Day, let us pledge to faithfully perform our duties, protect the environment, move towards a digital and green economy, and work to build a strong, prosperous, and secure Karnataka and India for future generations.”
Highlighting India’s progress over the past 78 years, the Governor noted significant achievements in agriculture, science, technology, space, education, health, industry, and infrastructure, attributing this growth to the strength of democratic values, citizen participation, and national unity. He lauded Karnataka’s contributions in culture, knowledge, innovation, and unity in diversity, acknowledging the role of scientists, farmers, teachers, entrepreneurs, artists, and youth in nation-building.
Referring to the State Government’s welfare initiatives, the Governor cited schemes such as Griha Jyoti Yojana, Anna Bhagya Yojana, Shakti Yojana, Griha Lakshmi Yojana, Griha Arogya, Akshara Aavichar, and Yuva Nidhi Yojana, as well as other financial assistance programmes aimed at poverty eradication, women’s empowerment, social justice, and economic growth.
Speaking about the Karnataka Quantum Mission, the Governor emphasized its role in fostering research and development, skill building, infrastructure growth, and startups—positioning Karnataka as the future “Quantum Capital of Asia.” He also encouraged active participation in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign to strengthen national pride, unity, and patriotism.
Calling upon the youth to advance in knowledge, skills, and innovation, the Governor urged collective action towards environmental protection, water conservation, cleanliness, clean energy, and sustainable development to secure a better future for generations to come.
Concluding his address, the Governor wished “happiness, prosperity, good health, and a bright future for all the citizens of Karnataka.”
