Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Sivakumar insisted that the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna, be given to the former Chief Minister, D. Devraj Urs, voice of the downtrodden Dalits in Karnataka.
He welcomed the decision to award Bharat Ratna posthumously to former Bihar Chief Minister Karpuri Thakur in a tweet while also expressing the opinion that Devaraja Arasu should be awarded Bharat Ratna too.
The Kannadigas demand that D. Devraj Urs be awarded the Bharat Ratna as he made immense contribution to the welfare of the Dalits in Karnataka. The DCM implored the centre to consider the demand.
