Ex-minister Nirani to Launch Sugar Factory in Bihar

Patna, December, 25: Former industries minister and sugar magnate Dr Murugesh R Nirani has made remarkable strides in reviving struggling industries.

Recently, he purchased a defunct sugar factory in far away Bihar and successfully doubled its production capacity within a year. On the 26th, December an expansion program for the factory’s sugar distillery and power generation units will be inaugurated.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and several cabinet members expected to grace the occasion.

In Karnataka, the Pandavpur Cooperative Sugar Factory in Mandya district had been shut down due to financial losses, leaving labourers and sugarcane farmers in a dire situation. Nirani took the factory on lease, implemented essential improvements, and resumed its operations. Similarly, the Bhima Patasa Sugar Factory in Maharashtra, which had been closed due to financial difficulties, was recently acquired by Nirani and is now operating successfully under his management.

Beyond sugar factories, Nirani has revitalized several other closed industrial units. These include the Ratna Cement Factory in Yadwada village (Belagavi district), Vasu Pujya Cement Factory in Lokapura (Mudhol taluk), and Suvarna Cement Factory in Chitradurga. Despite facing administrative challenges and financial crises, these factories were rehabilitated and transformed into thriving enterprises under his leadership.

On March 25th, 2025, a new facility will be inaugurated in Karnataka, dedicated to producing ethanol from 35,000 quintals of rice and corn.
