ESG – Environmental, Social, and Governance, is a framework used by investors and companies to evaluate the sustainability and societal impact of an investment or business. It has gained significant traction in recent years as businesses and investors recognize the importance of considering more than just financial returns.
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India through this ESG Conclave launched a forum of raising dedicated deliberations which was designed to connect key stakeholders in discussions on the heightened awareness of challenges and the interconnected ESG aspects influencing various business dimensions.

Bengaluru, May 25: Kempegowda International Airport is an ideal for environmental and social governance,” said L. Sridhar, Chairman of the environmental and social governance wing of the BIAL here on Saturday.
“It has become possible for us to provide a sustainable governance that is environmentally-friendly because of appropriate blue print prepared meticulously,” Sridhar added.
He was speaking after inaugurating a Conclave on “Environmental and Social Governance” jointly organized by The Institute of Company Secretaries of India mJointly with the Institute of Management Accountants, USA at Bangalore
Sridhar further said that in order to meet 2030 SDG goals, certain hard decisions were taken during Covid crisis. We are getting two-thirds drinking water through water harvesting. Very soon we will use cent percent rain water for drinking water purpose. We have doubled our watering capacity for gardening purpose
“From 2017, the airport has adopted zero tolerance towards emitting carbon dioxide,” Sridhar explained.
Stating that the airport has performed efficiently well even in sustainable development, the sale of produce, packaging sector have adopted environmentally-friendly measures. We have adopted several schools and undertaken environmentally-friendly measures.
Employees, community and partner’s commitment have become possible due to administrative stability. There has been a qualitative transformation even in conduct also.
“It is possible to have a sustainable future if we adopt the success story in other sectors also,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, C. A. Karandeep Singh of Nodwin Gaming organization, said the air, water and earth have been accorded the status of parents and Guru. Environment and social governance have become moral Education.
“The Communist regime has been taken over by Capitalism. In the Corporate world with reference to ESG administration, grading system are misleading. This sector needs Course correction,” he added.
ICSI Bangalore Chapter President Venkata Subbarao Kalwa, in his address, said the role of Company Secretaries is very crucial in the matters related to environment and social governance.
“We need to judiciously utilise natural resources in order to create a sustainable development world,” he added.
ICSI Bangalore Chapter Secretary CS Vishwas Hegde, SIRC Chairman CS Pradeep B Kulkarni, Central Committee member CS C. Dwarakanath, former CMA V. Guruprasad and IMA India senior administrator Fenil Vadaken were present on the occasion.
