•Since our government came to power, 2.5 lakh pump sets have been regularised
Bengaluru Express Vijayapura, Jan 23: Since the Congress government came to power in the state, 2.5 lakh illegal pump sets have been regularized, and the remaining 2 lakh pump sets will be regularized in the next year, Energy Minister K.J. George said today.

During an energy department review meeting in Vijayapura on Wednesday, Energy Minister K.J. George said, “The regularization scheme for illegal pump sets has been in effect since 2004. When our government came to power, there were 4.5 lakh pending applications under this scheme. So far, 2.5 lakh pump sets have been regularized. Once the remaining applications are addressed, new applications will be discussed in the Cabinet meeting, and decisions will be made accordingly.”
“Farmers across the state are being provided with 24-hour electricity, including seven continuous hours. In Vijayapura district, 353 agricultural feeders receive seven hours of three-phase power during the day, 165 feeders get four hours during the day and 3 hours at night, 42 feeders are supplied with three hours of power during the day and four hours at night with three-phase electricity, and 43 feeders receive three hours of power both during the day and night with three-phase supply,” Energy Minister KJ George added.
“Under the Kusum-B scheme, solar pump sets are being provided to farmers with an 80% subsidy, while the Kusum-C scheme focuses more on the solarization of feeders that supply electricity to agricultural pump sets. Agricultural pump sets located more than 500 meters from electricity feeders are being converted into solar-powered pump sets, resulting in significant benefits for farmers,” the Energy Minister said.
Continuous communication with elected representatives
People approach elected representatives with their concerns, which gives them more insight into electricity-related issues. Therefore, the minister directed the officers that HESCOM engineers and linemen should establish direct communication with the elected representatives in their areas and work together to resolve local-level problems, the Energy Minister added.

He also highlighted the need for proper maintenance of the electricity system that supplies drinking water to the constituency. When the issue of replacing old poles and wires was raised, the minister instructed the officers to address this matter promptly and with due attention.
