Bengaluru, August 28: Dismissing claims of preferential treatment for actor Darshan in jail, Medical Education and Skill Development Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil stated on Tuesday that the government is treating the matter with utmost seriousness. He reaffirmed that no one is above the law, and the system applies equally to all.
Commenting on reports about special facilities allegedly provided to Darshan, who is in Parappanna Agrahara prison in connection with the murder of his fan Renukaswamy, Dr. Patil emphasized the importance of strict vigilance by jail officials. “There are no special facilities in jail. The system must be the same for everyone—that is our stance. Such incidents gain attention when VIPs are jailed. Jail authorities must remain vigilant to prevent these lapses, as they can erode public trust in the system. The Home Minister has already taken steps to ensure that such incidents do not recur,” the minister told reporters on the sidelines of medical education department meeting, underlining the government’s commitment to upholding justice.
Dr. Patil further noted that this isolated incident should not be seen as indicative of a broader pattern.
