Guv Presides Over First Convocation of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar School of Economics University
Bangalore, June 19: Thaawarchand Gehlot, Governor of Karnataka, presided over the first convocation of the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar School of Economics University. During his address, Governor Gehlot praised Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, highlighting his significant contributions as a distinguished economist.
“Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was a renowned and skilled economist,” stated Governor Gehlot. “Considering Baba Saheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s thoughts and policies, the Government of India has implemented many decisions that have propelled the country towards becoming a developed nation with a strong economy.”
Governor Gehlot emphasized Dr. Ambedkar’s commitment to social justice and equality, noting, “A highly educated Baba Saheb B. R. Ambedkar could have chosen to serve in high office in London, America, or elsewhere, living a grand life. Instead, he dedicated himself to eliminating social, economic, and educational disparities, creating an environment of equality and harmony. His relentless efforts contributed significantly to the nation’s progress.”
Governor Gehlot also underscored the importance of the role of economists in shaping the nation’s future, stating, “Successful economists study complex data and use their findings to advise financial institutions. Their insights on policies and investments are vital. Our country, the world’s 5th largest economy, is rapidly progressing towards becoming a developed nation. Active efforts are necessary to position India at the forefront of the world’s developed nations.”
Celebrating the milestone for the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar School of Economics University, Governor Gehlot expressed, “This institution is emerging as a center of excellence in economic research and education, meeting the demands of our rapidly developing nation. Congratulations to all the graduates. As economists, you are equipped to research and monitor economic trends and develop statistical models for future advancements.”
The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Minister M.C. Sudhakar, former RBI Governor Dr. C. Rangarajan, Vice-Chancellor Dr. N. R. Bhanumurthy, and other dignitaries.
