The city witnessed an unprecedented gathering of network marketing professionals at Shikshakara Sadana, as they came together to celebrate Networkers Day. This event not only highlighted the contributions of the network marketing community but also emphasized the need for ethical practices and recognition of the industry’s role in the economy. A blood donation camp was also held on the occasion.
Dr. Sharath Kumar P.N, an expert and the only individual in Asia with a postgraduate diploma in Direct Selling said that he has submitted a memorandum to the government requesting December 23 to be officially declared as Networkers Day. He said that Network marketing was not just about sales but it was about creating opportunities and fostering growth through ethical practices. “We pay GST and taxes and contribute significantly to the economy. It’s high time the government recognizes our efforts and takes action against illegal practices while promoting genuine network marketing,”he said.
Harsha Muttalik emphasized the need for networkers to unite. He stated that by forming an association, they can represent their interests to the government effectively. He stressed the importance of being organized to address injustices and scams, ensuring clean direct selling and networking systems. “We will adhere to the rules established by the government and have already submitted a representation requesting that December 23 be officially recognized as Networkers’ Day,” he said. He added that just as doctors and lawyers have specific logos, networkers should also have a unique logo. Additionally, the association plans to request the government to establish a dedicated building for networkers.
Harsha also highlighted that a university in Himachal Pradesh currently offers a dedicated course in networking, and there is a need for universities in Karnataka to introduce similar programs. He further called for the creation of a regulatory board for network marketing professionals.
Explaining the choice of December 23, he said, “We have chosen this date because it coincides with Farmers’ Day. We are voluntarily declaring December 23 as Networkers’ Day and urge the government to officially recognize it. Together, we are joining hands to fight against injustices and create a better future for our profession.” Chief guest Mahendra Munnoth, a social activist, applauded the initiative, saying, “This event sets a benchmark for uniting network marketers under one bannerIt’s a huge step in the direction of outlawing unethical behavior and advancing networking models based on products that are advantageous to all parties.
