DCM D K Shivakumar calls for responsible use of water

Bengaluru, March 15: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar today called for responsible use of water in view of the severe drought.

Speaking after flagging off BWSSB’s ‘Neeru Ulisi Bengaluru Belasi’ event at Vidhana Soudha, he said, “Bengaluru is facing a serious water shortage. In view of this, it is important that the public use water responsibly. Officials should also create awareness about this.”

On the occasion, he released four apps- Antharjala, Jalasamrakshaka, Jalamitra, and Jalasnehi. Anyone who is digging new borewell has to obtain permission from BWSSB. The apps will help the government efficiently decide distribution of water resources.

“The water tariff has not been revised in the last ten years. We have decided to strengthen the BWSSB. We will take a decision after the Lok Sabha elections keeping in mind the long term vision.”

“The government is managing the water crisis well but the Opposition is raising a hue and cry eyeing the elections. We will manage the water issue even after the Code of Conduct comes into effect,” he said.
