Bengaluru, May 28: The BBMP chief commissioner Tushar Giri Nath has directed all zonal officials to fill potholes on priority at all arterial and sub-arterial roads that have been identified by the Fix My Street app.
Addressing a virtual meeting on the precautionary measures to be taken up by the top BBMP staff during pre-monsoon and monsoon he said that he directed officials to take appropriate measures to cover potholes identified so far. All the zonal engineers are expected to establish rapport with the BBMP batch mix plant mix.
Further he directed all the zonal and special commissioner have been asked to monitor pothole filling drive personally.
Batch mix brought from the plant must be inspected and quality should be compromised with while coving the potholes. Besides, Giri Nath directed officials to clear the dust in potholes, then add wet mix and next road roller will be employed.
It is observed that agencies like Bescom, BWSSB, GAIL and others stock their materials on footpath posing serious threat to pedestrians. Giri Nath directed officials penalise contractors and seize the goods.
Flooding must be completely arrested. Especially, at the sensitive and hyper sensitive areas. BBMP had identified 27 hyper sensitive and 45 sensitive zones for potholes. He directed all the zonal officials to be ready with sand bags to provide additional embankment to valleys or as an alternative measure provide pipeline system to divert the water, said Lokesh, chief engineer, storm water drain.
