Congress should collect evidence of vote theft and file a complaint with the Election Commission: MP Basavaraj Bommai

Bengaluru Express
Haveri, Aug. 10:
Regarding the issue of vote theft, Congress leaders should gather evidence and documents, file a complaint with the Election Commission, and let an investigation take place. ” I will welcome it”, insisted former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai.

Speaking to the media in Haveri on Saturday, he said that the Congress leaders are engaging in the task of searching for a black cat in the dark.

Responding to a question about the removal of the Vishnuvardhan memorial, he said that he has admiration for Vishnuvardhan. “It is saddening that his memorial was removed overnight,” he added.

“When I was the Chief Minister, we had inaugurated the Vishnu memorial in Mysuru. An amount of ₹12 crore was sanctioned for it. In my opinion, this issue should be resolved amicably,” he said.

River linking
Haveri, Gadag, Koppal, and Raichur are water-scarce catchment areas. Many drinking water projects exist in these catchment areas. In summer, there is an outcry for drinking water. The intention is to implement the Bedti–Varada river linking project to address the water shortage, he said.

“In the past, it was discussed that this project would cause environmental issues and biodiversity loss for the people of Uttara Kannada district. Recently, I held a meeting with Union Ministers C.R. Patil, Somanna, and senior officials. Everyone has expressed agreement to approve the Varada–Bedti project. We expect good news in a few days,” he added.

“If the state government sends the DPR, the next process will take place. Linking the waters of Varada, Dharma, and Bedti rivers must be handled within the state’s domain. Implementing irrigation projects is not that easy. We have held a meeting today to press both the Union and state governments,” he said.

When asked about MLA Shivarama Hebbar opposing the Bedti–Varada river linking project, he responded, “The lives of the people there will not be ruined. Changes have been made to the project. We will convince him and make it suitable for all.”
