Congress party workers instructed to facilitate the joining of BJP and JDS party workers: DCM

Bengaluru, March 16: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar today said that many party workers from the BJP and JDS are eager to join the ranks of the Congress party.

Speaking to reporters at his Sadashivanagar residence and KPCC office, he said, “We have given instructions to the party workers to facilitate the joining at the local level as many BJP and JDS party workers and leaders are keen to join the Congress party.”

“There is direct fight between Congress and JDS in about 5-6 constituencies but there is JDS now. The party workers will obviously look at their political future in this scenario. The workers are worried for their future as more and more members of Devegowda family are joining politics,” he said.

Asked about Kumaraswamy’s statement that he would reach D K Suresh anlesson, he said, “Let him first speak about the state of affairs of his party, then he could talk about teaching a lesson.”

Asked about the controversy about Palace land, he said, “I am not aware of the latest developments. This decision was taken during Kumaraswamy’s time, we have to go by the Court’s order. I will talk about it after going through the details.”

Asked if the CAA would be implemented in Karnataka, he said a decision would be taken only after a detailed discussion with the Chief Minister and other party leaders.

Asked if inputs from party leaders were taken before finalizing the candidates list, he said, “Our responsibility is to collect opinions and feedback from the grassroots level and sending it to the Party leadership and we have done that.”

Asked about postponement of Congress Election Committee meeting to Monday, he said that Kharge was in Bengaluru for a medical appointment.”

Replying to queries on POCSO case on Yediyurappa, he said, “I learnt about it late, I don’t have much information on that. The Home Minister will brief you on that.”
