Congress leaders infamous for building the wall to drinking water project; Bommai

Hubballi, Feb. 27:

Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday alleged that the Congress Party is responsible for the setback in the Mahadayi scheme and that party going to tribunal delayed the project by 8-10 years.

Sparking to media persons on Monday he said here that hitherto, there was no need to move the tribunal but it was constituted when Dr Manmohan Singh was the prime minister of the Congress Party. So,the project was delayed by 8-10 years. This was the biggest mistake done by the Congress Party, he added.

Congress built the wall

The former CM said the Congress party gave in writing to the tribunal and buil the wall. That party has been infamous for building the wall to drinking water schemes.  While the BJP built the canal the Congress Party built the wall. The Congress Party had been opposing the project whenever they were in power in Goa. But the permission for DPR was given even when the BJP was ruling Goa. Now the scheme was struck waiting for the environmental clearances. The ministry concerned has sought some documents and the same should be provided. If it was done, the BJP would put pressure on the union government to direct the department concerned to okay the project. The Congress Party had called for renswes without the permission from the Environmental department. Is it possible to go ahead with the work? For this reason, the Goan government has moved the Supreme Court.

The BJP leader urged the state government to effectively argue in court regarding Krishna, Mahadayi and Mekedatu projects. There has been a tribunal orde related to the Krishna project in 2010 but the Congress Party never filed the challenge petition opposing that order. They went behind the Maharashtra that has filed the writ petition. The previous BJP government had reserved Rs 5000 crore to give compensation to farmers.
