Hubballi, April 15: Congress leaders need not become the investigating officer, prosecutor and the judge in the Santosh suicide case. Let them allow for a free and thorough investigation, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.
Responding to demand from the opposition parties to arrest minister KS Eshwarappa, Bommai said, “police should be allowed to do their job. Whether the police or the CBI, they did not arrest the then Home Minister KJ George in the Ganapathy suicide case. Police will decide what to do and not to do. Why the Congress leaders are anxious. Let the truth come out from the investigation.”
No question of setback
Speaking to media persons at Hubballi airport Bommai said, there is no question of setback or embarrassment for the party due to the resignation of Eshwarappa. He is confident of coming out clean after the investigation. There are no personal issues here. The question of setback or advantage does not arise.
“Eshwarappa is set to submit his resignation today evening. He has clarity about his stand,” Bommai said.
Replying to the question whether he sees a conspiracy behind the case, Bommai said, the investigation would go deep into all the dimensions of the case. It would bring out the truth.
