BJP to launch Public movement against State government: MP Basavaraj ಬೊಮ್ಮಾಯಿ

“All are involved in corruption”

Bengaluru Express
Haveri, June 24:

Saying that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to launch a public movement against the administrative system of the state government, Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai said in consultation with key party leaders, the party will decide on the issues to be raised and the areas where public movements should be organized, based on public sentiment.

Speaking to the media on Monday , he said that the state’s development is at a standstill. Massive corruption has occurred in the transfer of officials, from local to state levels. The moral integrity of honest officials has deteriorated. Even if ruling party MLAs speak out, the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister remain silent. Cabinet colleagues are openly writing letters due to a lack of harmony and trust within the ministry. Ministers claim that questions raised in cabinet meetings are not being answered, which is why they are resorting to open letters.

Bommai said there is no relief even when it rains. No compensation for crop loss. No aid when houses collapse. There is no response from the government to any kind of public distress. Therefore, a public movement against the state’s administration will be launched. The BJP has decided to initiate public protests by taking up region-specific issues in consultation with the people. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has instructed that party leaders hold discussions and brainstorming sessions to decide on the nature of the agitation. The state party president and leaders of the opposition will soon hold preparatory meetings for the public movement, he added.

He said already, contractors from the Public Works Department (PWD) have made allegations against the government. The Liquor Shop Association has complained that money is being extorted for everything, including officials’ transfers. KEB (Karnataka Electricity Board) contractors have alleged that smart meters worth ₹500 are being sold for Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000. Despite various associations openly revealing the extent of bribery, the government has not responded, which clearly indicates that everyone is involved in the corruption.

The MP said there is a system in place to verify cases of farmer suicides. However, Minister Shivanand Patil is trying to evade responsibility with vague statements. The district administration should be held accountable for farmer suicides, and the government must provide compensation. Fake seeds are being distributed from Raitha Samparka Kendras (Farmer Contact Centers). It is as though the government itself has become a forger. In neighboring Dharwad district, seeds have germinated well as they were sourced from Madhya Pradesh. But here, they were brought from Maharashtra. The agriculture minister must answer for this.
