BESCOM Clarifies Misinformation on You Tube Clip Over Farmer Compensation

Bengaluru, June 20: Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has filed a police complaint on Wednesday against YouTube content creator for spreading false information about energy department schemes related to farmers.

A 5-minute YouTube video uploaded by one Shobha Prabhakar on her channel Shobha Prime Tube, Prime Tube-Shobha, falsely claims that:

I. Farmers will receive Rs. 100 per week as compensation from the government if they have electric poles or transformers in their fields.
II. Householders will receive free electricity ranging from 2000 to 5000 units.
III. Farmers will get a compensation of ₹5000 if they have agreed with the Energy Department.

BESCOM wishes to categorically state that this information is false and has been circulated maliciously to mislead farmers and the public. No such plan has been announced or approved by the State Government, the Energy Department, Electricity Supply Companies (ESCOM), or Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL).

The public is urged to disregard this false information and refrain from spreading such rumors. Believing and acting upon such misinformation can cause unnecessary confusion.
