Bengaluru, Nov. 20:
Immediate Installation of Slabs on Footpaths and Completed UGD Work Areas – Strict Action if Neglected: Pommala Sunil Kumar
During a pedestrian inspection conducted from R.K. Hegde Nagar to Bellahalli Checkpoint along Thanisandra Main Road, Bengaluru North City Corporation Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar instructed officials to immediately install slabs on footpaths and locations where underground drainage (UGD) works have been completed.
In a joint inspection held this morning with BESCOM and BWSSB officials, the Commissioner observed several locations where slabs were either damaged or missing, posing a risk to pedestrian movement. He directed officials to complete slab installation within one week to prevent any untoward incidents.
Since the road is still under the maintenance period, contractors are obligated to install slabs and ensure smooth pedestrian movement. Failure to comply will result in recovery of the contractors’ security deposit. The Commissioner also warned that current and previous Executive Engineers would face action if adequate supervision is not ensured.

Key Instructions Issued During the Inspection:
1.Warning Against Dumping Waste on Roads:
The Commissioner noticed garbage piles at several locations and instances of shopkeepers dumping waste on footpaths and main roads. He instructed the Byatarayanapura Division AGM to take strict action, including closure of shops violating waste management norms.
