Bengaluru, April 5: In a major shakeup in BBMP administration the BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta has been replaced by Tushar Girinath who was serving as principal secretary to revenue department. Gupta has been transferred to the post of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Infrastructure Development.
Exactly after one year, Gupta has been shunted out of the BBMP. The talk of him transferring was talk of the town for the last four months. Finally, government has issued a notification on April 5 transferring 15 IAS officials.

Gupta was under media scanner for not being open with media in giving away information, especially about the Covid-19.
Gupta faced one of the tough situations and when the world was rocked due to the Covid. He held the BBMP administration during the second wave of Covid and faced the challenges effectively. He was also infected with Covid and ran the administration from being quarantined.




Tushar Girinath who is said to be an upright officer has been posted as the Chief Commissioner of the BBMP. He is likely to take charge on Friday. He was chairman of BWSSB earlier.
