Attract private investments too in RE sector – Energy Minister George

Visits KREDL and conducts review meeting with department officials

Bengaluru June, 21: Bengaluru, June 21: Minister for Energy K J George visited the head office of the Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL) and chaired a review meeting at the KREDL at Nagarbhavi today.

The minister, along with ACS Gaurav Gupta went around the KREDL campus and witnessed the functioning of the Solar Smart Bench, Pico Hydro, SCADA center (real-time data acquisition of data from power projects) installed in the campus.

During the review meeting, the minister took updates from the officials on various projects and their progress. He also laid emphasis on the need to enhance the renewable energy generation and better energy conservation so that it leads to increased energy efficiency across the state and a leader in the sector.

The Minister discussed with officials on the upcoming projects such as the proposed Solar Project at Kalburgi, Battery Energy Storage System at Pavagada. Floating Solar Project, 500 MW Bidar Solar Park at Aurad, Bidar, KUSUM B & C, Green hydrogen projects, Establishment of 5GW Hybrid Park ( solar & wind) with Battery Energy Storage System in PPP model for sale of energy outside the state under ISTS scheme in various districts Chitradurga, Koppal, Dharwad, Raichur, Vijayanagar, Vijayapura, Tumkur and Belagavi. He also discussed in detail on the establishment of new initiatives such as setting up of Skill Development Center, Incubation center, Professional Internship for technical students and directed officials to give wide publicity and stressed on attracting Private investments in the sector.

The minister encouraged the officials to adopt a corporate style of working and think of innovative ways of project implementation.

Mr. K.P. Rudrappaiah Managing Director, KREDL, and other senior officers from the department participated in the meeting.
