Appropriate measures to bring students stranded in Ukraine: CM Bommai

Bengaluru. Feb 24: With the Russia waging a war against Ukraine the concern for safety of students stranded at Ukraine is mounting.

In this background, appropriate measures are being taken to bring home Karnataka students stranded in Ukraine, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Speaking to media persons in Vidhana Soudha he said, many Indian students are stranded in Ukraine as the war broke out between Ukraine and Russia when the students were heading to the airport. About 100 students are stranded in two buses. More than 10 of them are Kannadigas. “We are getting complete information about them. We are in constant touch with the Indian Embassy in Ukraine.”

“The Indian Embassy in Ukraine has issued suitable guidelines for the safety of Indian students. Action is being taken to bring them back safely once the flight services resume. We are in constant touch with the Foreign Secretary and I will discuss it with our External Affairs minister too,” Bommai said.

About 200 Indians returned home from Ukraine last week under the shadow of war. The students are returning in batches and this is the last batch. Karnataka students would be brought home safely, Bommai said replying to a question on the stranded students.
