Adi Chunchanagiri Math to Support Education of Auto Drivers’ Children Facing Financial Hardship: Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji

Bengaluru: Adi Chunchanagiri Math is prepared to take responsibility for the education of children of auto drivers who are facing financial difficulties, announced Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji of Adichunchanagiri Math.

He was speaking at the 12th Annual Drivers’ Day Celebration and the Gold Medal Felicitation Ceremony for dedicated drivers, organised at Shalini Ground, Jayanagar, under the leadership of Peace Auto & Taxi Drivers Association, Adarsha Auto & Taxi Drivers Association, and Vishnu Sena Committee, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of legendary Kannada actor late Shankar Nag.

Swamiji noted that we are living in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, where technology is advancing rapidly on a global scale. He emphasized that auto drivers must adapt to new technologies and give utmost priority to the education of their children. “If auto drivers face financial problems in educating their children, our Math will always stand by them,” he assured.

Call for Formation of an Auto Development Corporation

Former Chief Minister Dr. Ashwathnarayan urged the government to establish a state-owned Auto Development Corporation for the overall welfare and development of auto drivers. He highlighted that auto drivers significantly contribute to the preservation and promotion of the Kannada language and stressed the need for government-led initiatives to support their families.

He also raised concerns about unauthorized whiteboard bikes and taxis providing transport services, causing hardship to auto drivers. He demanded that such services be banned and necessary action be taken by the government. Dr. Ashwathnarayan further expressed support for awarding a posthumous doctorate to the visionary Shankar Nag.

MLA C.K. Ramamurthy stated that several legislators will raise their voice in the upcoming assembly session to push for a ban on whiteboard transport services. He noted that these unauthorized operators neither pay taxes to the government nor ensure public safety, making strict regulation essential.

Gold Medal Felicitation

Raghu Narayan Gowda, President of Peace Auto & Taxi Drivers Association, shared that Shankar Nag’s birthday has been celebrated as Drivers’ Day for the past 12 years. As part of the celebrations, seven dedicated auto drivers were honoured with gold medals to motivate and recognise their service to society.

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, actress Rachita Ram, director Rajendra Singh Babu, actor Darling Krishna, director Shashank, actor Vinod Prabhakar, Vishnu Sena Committee President Veerakaputra Srinivas and several other dignitaries were present at the event.

A total of 4,000 auto drivers attending the event were provided with samprasthra during the ceremony.
