Bengaluru Express

Bengaluru, May 31:

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the fifth edition of the Women of Worth (WOW) 2025 programme on June 4 at the Vivanta Taj Hotel in Yeshwanthpur. The invitation to the Chief Minister was personally extended by Mrs. K. Ratna Prabha, President of Ubuntu Women’s Network and former Chief Secretary of Karnataka, along with other founders of the Ubuntu platform, which has been at the forefront of recognizing and empowering women entrepreneurs across India.

Addressing the media after extending the invitation, Ratna Prabha confirmed that Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, will inaugurate the exhibition segment of the event, while Karnataka’s Minister for Small Scale Industries and Public Sector Enterprises, Sharnabasappa Darshanapur, will serve as the Guest of Honour.

First launched in 2015–16 with the inaugural edition also graced by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the WOW Awards aim to celebrate and encourage women entrepreneurs, particularly from smaller towns, by recognizing their contributions and achievements. Over the years, the initiative has evolved into a major national platform, with this year’s edition expecting the participation of 100 exhibitors and 300 delegates.

Ubuntu, the organizing body, has grown into a formidable network, currently comprising 57 associations across 12 states. Through its various initiatives, it supports over 30,000 women entrepreneurs nationwide. Entrepreneurs from across the country—including states like Goa, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam—are expected to participate in the 2025 edition.

In addition to recognition and networking, the WOW event includes practical training sessions for women entrepreneurs. These cover essential topics such as cybercrime awareness and e-commerce skills development to help participants safeguard their businesses and expand their market reach.

With strong backing from both state and union ministers, the WOW 2025 programme continues to underscore the growing commitment to empowering women-led enterprises and nurturing inclusive economic growth in the country.
