BENGALURU, May 13, 2025 – As the Karnataka government approaches its two-year anniversary, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar confirmed today that his administration has successfully fulfilled its promises to the state’s citizens.
In a press briefing held at his Sadashivanagar residence, Shivakumar announced plans to distribute one lakh patta khatas (land ownership documents) as part of the milestone celebration.
“We have delivered as promised,” Shivakumar stated. “This celebration belongs not just to our government but to all people of Karnataka. The distribution of one lakh patta khatas will mark this significant occasion.”
The Deputy Chief Minister revealed that the government had initially considered postponing the anniversary celebrations due to border conflicts. “With the ceasefire now in effect, we’ve decided to proceed with our planned programs,” he explained.
District ministers and MLAs have been directed to organize meetings with party workers and officials at the district level to ensure widespread participation in the anniversary events.
“The issuance of one lakh patta khatas through the Revenue department fulfills a key commitment from our election manifesto,” Shivakumar emphasized. “We plan to invite national leaders to participate in this important initiative.”
When questioned about controversial statements attributed to Indira Gandhi that have recently gone viral and are perceived as criticism of the Central government, Shivakumar declined to comment directly. “Our national leadership will communicate the party’s official position on this matter,” he said.
The announcement highlights the government’s focus on land rights and documentation as a priority area of governance as it completes two years in office.
