Truth Triumphs

Govt gives guarantees from one hand and loots people from another

Bengaluru Express
Haveri (Ranebennur), Feb. 10: Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy strongly criticized the Karnataka Congress government, accusing it of deceiving the people with so-called guarantee schemes while burdening them with excessive price hikes.
Speaking at the Janata Dal (Secular) office in Ranebennur, he lashed out at the government, stating, “On one hand, they promise guarantees to fool the people, and on the other, they impose heavy price hikes to loot them.”
“This government has systematically increased stamp duty, guidance value, liquor prices, bus fares, and now metro fares. The recent 40-50% hike in Bengaluru Metro ticket prices is nothing short of a shocker for the common man,” he said.
“For this government, development seems to mean only price hikes. True development has completely come to a halt in Karnataka. Women are being given ₹2,000, but the burden of loans taken to fund these schemes is being passed on to the people.”
Kumaraswamy further pointed out that Congress is borrowing heavily to fund its guarantee schemes, adding that Karnataka’s total debt has already crossed ₹7 lakh crore.
“The people will ultimately have to repay this debt. Meanwhile, across the state—from Ballari to other regions—newborns and mothers are dying due to government negligence. But this government is least concerned,” he alleged.
Accusing the Congress government of failing in every sector, Kumaraswamy stated, “The very people who voted for them are now suffering. That is why our party is taking up the fight on behalf of the people. Our workers and leaders must take to the streets in protest.”

Support for Those Struggling with Microfinance Debt:
Kumaraswamy also addressed the growing distress among poor families trapped in microfinance loans, leading to a rise in suicides.
“Taking a loan is not a crime. You do not have to end your life because of it. If the state government can borrow ₹7 lakh crore and still continue its loot, why should ordinary people fear repaying small loans? Do not lose hope—we stand with you,” he reassured.

Strengthening JD(S) in Karnataka:
He also emphasized the need to strengthen the JD(S) organization across the state, particularly in North Karnataka, promising focused efforts to expand the party’s grassroots presence.
Later, party leaders in Haveri felicitated the Union Minister, and JD(S) district president Manjunath, along with several other leaders, were present. Before this event, Kumaraswamy also visited the residence of party leader Basavaraj Koppad.
