Politics doesn’t run on statements to media: DCM

New Delhi, Nov 30: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today said that real politicking is not dictated by media statements of certain politicians.

Speaking to reporters at Karnataka Bhavan, he said, “It doesn’t befit any politician or political party to discuss politics before the media.” He was replying to questions about Minister K N Rajanna and Satish Jarakiholi publicly expressing their desire the take up the position of KPCC President.

Asked about a letter which has been sent to AICC that the Congress party’s convention had become Siddaramaiah’s personal convention, he said, “I don’t have any info on this. But the CM has already communicated to me the purpose of the convention. I haven’t met the CM in the last three-four days. Party is certainly part of the convention.”

Replying to queries on his meeting with AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, he said, “I met him to discuss the modalities of the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi assuming AICC Presidency. Dec 28 is the Congress Foundation Day. I discussed details pertaining to that as well. More than 300 party leaders are participating in this programme. We would like to host this event. He has promised to discuss this in the Congress Working Committee and let us know about it.”

Cabinet reshuffle
Asked about Cabinet reshuffle, he said, “Cabinet reshuffle will take place when the time is ripe. Now is not that time. One Cabinet post is available, but there was no discussion on that either.”

Asked about his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, “I met the PM to submit a memorandum about Irrigation projects in the state. Yesterday, I had met Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi to expedite environmental clearance for Kalasa-Banduri project. They have responded positively to my appeal. As PM is the Chairman of the National Wildlife Board, we will submit a memorandum to them as well.”

“I had also participated in the swearing in ceremony of Hemanth Soren in Ranchi along with Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge,” he added.
