BENGALURU EXPRESS

Truth Triumphs

2024 – Promises for you to keep – Pause and reflect on your body, mind and soul.

Bengaluru, Jan. 1: Looking back at the months gone by, pondering the lessons learnt, and the challenges faced, and the memories made – brings a mix of emotions — gratitude for what was, nostalgia for what has passed, and anticipation for what is yet to come. Most of us are filled with regrets and angst. We wish we did things differently. What’s gone is gone. Remember the best days of our lives haven’t even happened yet.”

Word of the Year- ecstasy, joy, simplify, adventure, abundance, and limitless or wellness, are all powerful words! How are you?” we impulsively respond -“well”. Yes it is wellness, my choice as Word of the Year. Wellness is a modern word with ancient roots. It’s Holistic! Wellness is not a passive or a static state. It is an “active pursuit”! Wellness is more than just physical health. It is multidimensional! Be at war with your vices, at peace with yourself and your neighbors, let every New Year find you a better man!

Laughter is the Best Medicine! We have forgotten to laugh! A Laugh a day keeps the doctor away! It cures a multitude of ills! A good laugh is a let-go- whole body experience. The laughter erupts from within! Laughter isn’t about just jokes. It is a way of telling- I like you! Llaughter is contagious. Laughter is attractive.
Be a better person today than you were yesterday!

New Year’s resolutions and I have a long history together, and it is not a very happy one. There have been years when I’ve given them up as early as January 31, a few times that I’ve made it all the way to February, but none I have never made it as far as December.

We cannot become what we want to be, remaining what we are. Be a better friend to your friends. Be a better partner in your marriage! Be a better parent. Be human and be kind! Listen and listen carefully. Speak only if you have to! Take care and show concern. Be trust worthy. Do not separate your actions from the words you speak! Cultivate gratitude!

Choose to Smile. Choose to Be true to yourself and others. Choose to Speak without saying a word – listen actively. Do not criticize, complain or condemn! Choose generosity, compassion and wisdom! You cannot change what you refuse to confront.
Never ever regret- what once made you smile! Life is made up of choices. Every choice you make makes you! There is always fear of the unknown! A Small number of choices will determine the great majority of results. Life is inherently risky. One big risk you should avoid at all costs is the risk of doing nothing.

It’s a cruel and random world, but the chaos is all so beautiful. All powerful emotions come from chaos -fear, anger, and love- especially love. It shakes you up and spins you around. Eventually, it falls apart or you fall in love. Chaos is what we have lost touch with. If we want to embrace life- embrace chaos. Chaos is the law of nature.
A hello is always accompanied with a goodbye! It’s funny how good memories make you cry. Its funny how ‘forever’- never seems to last. It’s funny how so many lies are packed into one love letter. If we don’t make the choices that are ours to make, others will make them for us. Let’s take our power back and create the life we want for ourselves, for our children!
When the going gets tough, the tough get going! Kindness in words creates confidence and motivation. Kindness in giving creates strength and love. Through kindness make a profound difference in every life you touch, including your own.
When people are rude to you, they reveal who they are, not who you are. Don’t take it personally. Be silent. Judge nothing, you will be happy. Forget and Forgive and be done with! Let Go – Anger! Focus on your “anger triggers”. Unchecked anger can often lead to aggressive behavior. Don’t Suppress Anger. Manage anger! It involves learning how to recognize, cope with, and express your anger in healthy ways.
Better physical fitness! Keep yourself well hydrated!

Take care of yourself! Take care of your body! It is the only place we have for us to live! Be physically fit—regardless of age! It’s about building strength in your muscles, joints, bones, tendons, and to handle life. It’s about self-confidence and discipline. It’s to withstand the frailty as you age.
Exercise is good for you- but how- good? From boosting your mood to improving your sex life and to add years to your life? Just exercise. Helps lower the risk of death from all causes. Listen to silence-30 minutes every day! Exercise invigorates the body! Silence sharpens the mind! Many of us have forgotten silence and some of us fear silence! Speak only when you have to and your words are better than silence.
Wake up with gratitude. Find easy ways to be grateful. Get those 8 hours of sleep! Develop a sleeping ritual! Smile at yourself in the mirror and keep smiling even with strangers. Be the first to smile and say hi to everyone.
Cut Back on Salt and Sugar! No to smoking! It boils the blood! Eat More Fruits and Vegetables! Limit Alcohol. A good shape and healthy weight are associated with a longer life!
Give these an honest try, See it make a huge impact.
