Bangalore, Aug, 31: Mr. J. Tirumala Jayapal, President of Karnataka Taekwondo Association, was the first ever referee from India in the World Taekwondo Cultural Beach Pomsaye Championship held at Gangwon in South Korea. This is the first time that India has successfully handled this position.
Tirumala Jayapal handled his responsibilities efficiently in the tournament held from August 18 to 24 at Songam Sports Town. He refereed various sports of Taekwondo in a beautiful beach environment for seven days.
Commenting on this, Tirumala Jayapal said, “It was indeed a challenging responsibility. I am proud to represent the country as a Bangalorean. He said that there are bright opportunities for Indian athletes to work as referees in future.”
