He has been arrested in connection with corruption charges
Rs 5 lakh exchanged hands for a favourable order in DC court
Bengaluru, July 4: In a major development, Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths arrested Bengaluru Urban former Deputy Commissioner Manjunath J (IAS officer) in connection with a corruption charges case. He was arrested by the ACB sleuths from his residence in Yeshwanthpur.
ACB had interrogated Manjunath on Thursday after the Karnataka High Court took the investigative agency to task. A day after his interrogation, the state government shunted him as director of the Integrated Child Protection Scheme.
It may be recalled that two staff members in Manjunath’s office were arrested in May for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to get a favourable order from the DC court. A resident of Anekal sought an order in his favour for 38 guntas of land.
After the High Court rap, the ACB had issued summons and questioned Manjunath, and he was arrested on Monday.
