Police have arrested two persons including the brother of the girl in connection with the murder of Dalit youth for interfaith love in Kalaburagi on Friday.
Vijaya Kamble, a resident of Bheema Nagar Layout in Wadi town near Chittapur in Kalaburagi district was killed on Wednesday night. The 25-year-old youth was in love with a Muslim girl.
Aland town on Thursday turned tensed.
Wadi police have arrested Shahabuddin, brother of the girl and his associate. The accused has gone incommunicado.
Following the murder of Vijay Kamble
Aland town turned tensed. The deceased was in love with a girl belonging to another religion and wanted to marry her. The girl’s family was opposed to their relationship.
According to preliminary reports, Vijaya Kamble was waylaid near the railway bridge by a gang of miscreants. He was attacked with weapons, stone and bricks. Police say that the deceased was attacked brutally.
Vijaya Kamble had succumbed to profuse bleeding on the spot. The police have beefed up security in the town to avoid any untoward incident. Wadi police have taken up the case for investigation.
The murder case of a Dalit youth over interfaith love has taken a political turn in Karnataka. Ruling BJP Minister for Large and Medium Indistries Murugesh Nirani has stated on Friday that the killers of Dalit youth won’t be spared and strict legal action will be initiated against them.
“The accused in the murder case have been arrested already by Kalabuaragi police. The police have swung into action immediately and ensured arrests.
Now, legal procedures will follow and it would be ensured that the guilty are punished,” Minister Nirani, who is also district in charge Minister of Kalaburagi district where the incident had taken place explained.
He alleged that opposition parties Congress and JD (S) are trying to play politics with the incident and are attempting use it to gain political advantage, he said.
It is unfortunate that the opposition is using the incident for their advantage. The government will provide compensation to the deceased’s family. The opposition is calculating how to take advantage out of the murder case, he charged.
