Restoration of roads must be completed in two months: BBMP chief

Bengaluru, Feb. 22: Restoration of roads should be completed within two months, especially in 110 villages where road cutting has been done to provide water connection, said the BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta.

Addressing a virtual meeting on road maintenance officials, he suggested that details of road restoration of road cut and asphalting should be submitted to the BBMP head office regularly. Free flow of vehicles should be ensured by completing the restoration work as per the schedule.

Road restoration should be done systematically and the durability of the restored road, mostly at 110 villages where roads have been cut to lay BWSSB water line and Under Ground Drainage (UGD) should be ensured, he directed. It is the duty of executive engineers to ensure good quality roads through proper inspection. 

With regard to 139 roads with a total length of 183.38 kms, 72 roads with a length of 84.14 kms have been asphalted. Asphalt works on 67 roads with a length of 99.24 kms is under progress and it should be completed soon, he directed.

Any unresolved issues related to BWSSB should be escalated to Chief Engineer’s level and it should be brought to the notice of higher authorities. All the restoration and asphalting work should be done before the onset of monsoon, he said.

In BBMP limits, 113 km Rajakaluve is being constructed under the Chief Minister’s Nava Nagarotthana scheme. Already, 96 kms has been completed. The remaining 17 kms work should be completed by the end of March, directed Mr. Gupta.
