In the wake of surge in Covid-19 and Omicron cases across the state, especially in Bengaluru, the state government has issued guidelines for Bengaluru and separate rules for rest of Bengaluru.
Speaking to media persons after a marathon meeting, Mr. Ashok schools have been shut down except for class 10, 12, medical and paramedical classes across Bengaluru. Special night curfew (from 10 pm to 5 am) and weekend curfew (Friday night to Monday morning) for the next two weeks will be applicable, said Revenue Minister R Ashok.
However, separate guidelines will be issued depending on the percentage of the Corona cases. Only 50 per cent occupancy will be allowed at cinemas, clubs, malls, pubs and all public places. Double vaccination is a must for those who visit public places, said Mr. Ashok.
Offline classes have been made available for students upto class 9, class 11 in the city. Even the degree classes will not have offline classes. Only essential services and parcel service at hotels will be allowed when the new guidelines are in force, he said.
Separate guidelines for public and private transport including the Namma Metro will be announced shortly.
Only 200 people will be allowed for outdoor functions while 100 people can participate in indoor programmes. Only 50 persons will be allowed at temples. However, regular Pooja and other rituals follow at all the temples, he said.
Bengaluru alone has witnessed 3,024 Corona and 174 Omicron cases when Mr. Ashok addressed the media. Covid has been spreading like wildfire.

Health and Higher Education Minister K. Sudhakar travelers from high risk countries will be tested at the hospitals. If found positive, they would be sent to institutional quarantine. The government will bear the cost of the quarantine for budget hotels. For star hotel accommodation, the patients would have to bear the cost, he added.
Preparation are on for procurement of medicines, he said and added that Bengaluru is considered as a separate entity and strict guidelines will be implemented.
A committee comprising IAS and IPS has been formed at all the eight BBMP zones for effective management of beds at all the hospitals. Constituency wise ambulance and covid care centres will be constituted, he added.
