Bengaluru, Nov. 19: The blueprint for the proposed Quantum City to be established at Hesaraghatta will be officially unveiled tomorrow (November 19) at the Bengaluru Tech Summit, announced Minister for Minor Irrigation, Science and Technology N.S. Boseraju on Monday.
The Minister was speaking at the Smart Bio Awards ceremony held at Science Gallery Bengaluru (SGB) as part of the Tech Summit, where he also interacted with several distinguished delegates attending the global event.
He noted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and IT & BT Minister Priyank Kharge, the Bengaluru Tech Summit has grown into Asia’s largest scientific and deep-tech platform, bringing together global leaders in research, startups, innovation, and policy.
Major Science & Technology Initiatives in Karnataka
Minister Boseraju highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting scientific temper and innovation across the State:
- Science centres and planetariums are being established in every district.
- The Astronomy Access Programme has distributed telescopes to schools, giving rural students hands-on exposure to space science.
- The ₹300-crore Bengaluru Science City, being developed with support from the Government of India, is progressing rapidly and will offer immersive, experiment-based learning environments.
- The State’s *Karnataka Quantum Mission (KQM), with an allocation of ₹1,000 crore, aims to position Karnataka as the *“Quantum Capital of Asia.”
Karnataka is also establishing India’s first Quantum City in Bengaluru. The government will present its detailed roadmap at the Bengaluru Tech Summit tomorrow. In addition, the State has requested the Centre to approve a Quantum Materials Innovation Network under India’s National Quantum Mission.

At the event, the following awards were presented:
- Startup of the Year: MicrobioTx Health Pvt Ltd
- Innovator of the Year: InnAccel Technologies Pvt Ltd
- Women Entrepreneur of the Year: Payal Patel, Co-founder, Agropak Pvt Ltd
- Best Campus of the Year: Theraxcel Healthcare Pvt Ltd
- Startup of the Year (Beyond Bengaluru): SGB Agroindustries, Koppa & Sri Gowri Bhargava Pvt Ltd, Chikkamagaluru
The Minister also lauded Science Gallery Bengaluru, supported by the Government of Karnataka, for its role in blending science with art and design and attracting more than six lakh visitors since its inception.
More than 150 delegates from over 60 countries, including business leaders, deep-tech startups, Consuls General, and senior representatives from global science and technology ecosystems, who are in Bengaluru to participate in the Tech Summit have attended the gala dinner.
