” State government failed to understand people’s sentiments in Dasara inauguration”
Bengaluru Express:
Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai alleged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is engaging in appeasement politics even when it comes to granting higher compensation to those who died in the Hassan Ganeshotsava tragedy. The CM is worried as granting more compensation might affect his appeasement politics.
Speaking to an English news agency in Bengaluru, he said in the Hassan Ganeshotsava procession tragedy, people lost the lives of their family members. Their families have suffered immense loss, losing their breadwinners. That is why they are asking for higher compensation. They are not begging. The government should grant higher compensation purely on humanitarian grounds.
Bommai said on the other hand, the Chief Minister has given compensation to those who died in communal riots, to those who died in provocative incidents, to the Wayanad tragedy, and now even to Himachal Pradesh. But in Hassan, a tragedy occurred during a Ganeshotsava procession. Now he is worried whether granting higher compensation here will hurt his appeasement politics. Humanity has died within him. If he truly has humanity, he must grant higher compensation and become a leader for all communities
Respect people’s sentiments
The MP on the matter of Dasara inauguration, said the state government should have respected people’s sentiments. This issue relates to people’s faith, traditions, and emotions. It cannot be decided merely within the scope of law. It is a matter the state government had to decide. Choosing Banu Mushtaq is part of appeasement politics. They have respect for Banu Mushtaq, but in the matter of Dasara inauguration, the state government has failed to understand people’s feelings.
Not played match
When asked about the Indian cricket team’s conduct with the Pakistan team, he said Suryakumar Yadav, as captain, conducted himself well both on and off the ground. He dedicated the team’s victory to the Indian soldiers. However, after the Pahalgam attack, no kind of relations—including sports—should have been maintained with Pakistan. In this regard, the BCCI should have decided not to play against Pakistan.
Pothole Drive
Responding to a question about pothole-ridden Bengaluru roads, the former CM said during the tenure of this government, the citizens of Bengaluru are experiencing a ‘pothole drive.’ The state government is not giving any funds for Bengaluru’s development. Bengaluru is the city that pays the highest taxes, yet every three months taxes are being increased. People are being forced to live with potholes. Citizens must raise their voices strongly against this government. There are more than 10,000 potholes in Bengaluru. The state government has announced ₹1,100 crore for Bengaluru. That is a very small amount. They had granted several thousand crores for Bengaluru’s development. The funds given by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar are insufficient for anything. On social media, people are ridiculing the state government. Shivakumar only keeps boasting about ‘Brand Bengaluru.’ But the reality is that people of Bengaluru are commuting through potholes every single day. As long as this government remains, citizens will be forced to live with potholes.
