Despite recent repair work undertaken by the BWSSB on the water line along Ascension Church Road, the line continues to sink. Taking serious note of the issue, East Zone Commissioner Snehal directed BWSSB officials to immediately restore the pipeline and take swift corrective measures.
She made these remarks during an inspection conducted today, which covered the stretch from Pulakeshinagar Police Station to Hennur Main Road via Davis Road and Wheeler Road.
Replacement of Damaged Drain Slabs:
At the underpass near Pulakeshinagar Police Station, several drain slabs were found to be damaged, posing a risk to both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The Commissioner instructed that the broken slabs be replaced immediately and the footpath made safe for use.
Removal of Brick Structures Around Trees:
Along the Banaswadi pedestrian pathway, brick structures were found built around trees. She directed that these be removed at once and replaced with interlocking tiles to ensure proper pedestrian access and enhance aesthetics.
Footpath Cleanliness Drive:
During the inspection of Hutchins Road, She called for a special cleanliness drive targeting pedestrian pathways. She instructed officials to issue notices to those who had illegally installed Optical Fiber Cables (OFC), remove all encroachments, and ensure thorough cleaning of the walkways.
Fines for Unauthorized Parking on Footpaths:
The Zonal Commissioner ordered that penalties be imposed on vehicles found parked illegally on footpaths. She also instructed the local traffic police to clear such vehicles without delay to maintain public access.
2.5 km Walk-through Inspection:
A detailed walk-through inspection was carried out covering approximately 2.5 kilometers — from Pulakeshinagar Police Station to Hennur Main Road via Davis Road and Wheeler Road. During the inspection, the she directed concerned departments to take immediate action on the issues identified.
The inspection was attended by Executive Engineers, Assistant Executive Engineers, officials from the Health and Sanitation Department, BSWML AGM, representatives from the BWSSB, BESCOM, and the Traffic Police Department, among others.
