Hiking Muslim Reservation in Housing Scheme Is a Violation of the Constitution: Opposition Leader R. Ashoka

Increasing the reservation for Muslims in housing schemes is a violation of the Constitution. With this move, the Congress government has snatched away the rights of the people, said Opposition Leader R. Ashoka, expressing his outrage.

Speaking to reporters, he said that according to the Constitution written by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, religion-based reservation is not permissible. Congress leaders are holding the Constitution in their hands while simultaneously violating its principles. By increasing the reservation for Muslims by 5% in housing schemes, injustice is being done to the backward classes. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has carried out this disgraceful act for the sake of votes. This controversy is being stirred up to cover up the tragic stampede during the RCB celebration. The government has robbed the rights of the people, he said.

If this continues, Siddaramaiah will become a Chief Minister exclusively for the Muslim community. Previously, approval for increased reservation had not been granted. Now, a new form of reservation is being introduced. This has been done because Siddaramaiah must relinquish his chair in October. He claimed that this decision was made in a bid to get all Muslims to stand with him.

The Congress party, which has turned vote bank politics into its mainstay, is finding new ways to further appeasement every day. After granting 4% reservation to Muslims in government contract works, it is now moving to increase the reservation for minorities in housing schemes from 10% to 15%. Though Dr. Ambedkar himself had said that religion-based reservation is completely against the spirit of the Constitution, the Congress government under CM Siddaramaiah is pushing for 4% reservation in contract work. Now it is prioritizing Muslims even in the provision of houses for the poor. This is further proof of the Congress party’s anti-constitutional mindset, he alleged.

Just as Nehru and Jinnah selfishly divided India in the past, today anti-national CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar are trying to divide Karnataka society along religious lines. Until this unconstitutional and socially unjust reservation increase is withdrawn, the BJP will launch an intense statewide protest, he declared.

KMF Did Not Participate

He also alleged that KMF (Karnataka Milk Federation) was deliberately excluded from the tender process for opening stalls in metro stations as part of a government conspiracy. On one hand, farmers are being denied milk subsidies; on the other, KMF is being denied opportunities. Due to the government’s failure, farmers have been wronged, and others have benefited, he stated.

He further said that the Congress is destroying Bengaluru, the city built by Nadaprabhu Kempegowda. Since Siddaramaiah came to power, he has been dividing everyone. People will not tolerate the division of Bengaluru. They believe that one mayor cannot govern a city of 10 million people. There’s no money for Bengaluru’s development. To hide these failures, the government has decided to split the city into three parts. New issues are being raised to distract people from pothole-ridden roads and garbage problems. If Bengaluru is divided, the people’s curse will befall them, he warned.
