Bengaluru Express
Bengaluru, May 27:
Land is precious in Bengaluru. Forest land has been encroached here for decades. In the last two years since he became the minister, he said that he has cleared 128 acres of forest land worth about Rs 4000 crore.
The central government-owned HMT has been completely banned from selling 444 acres of forest land worth about Rs 14,300 crore in its possession to many organizations, including real estate companies. It has been decided to reclaim this forest land and reserve it as a park, and a legal battle has been underway. The Forest Minister said that the petition is being heard in the Supreme Court.
During the British era, about 5050 acres of forest land was given to various individuals and organizations on a long-term (999 year) lease. The government has reduced the lease period of 999 years to 99 years and issued a gazette notification. Now, even though the lease period of some of these has expired, they have not returned the land to the forest department and have approached the court. A legal battle is being fought to get it back. He explained that the petitions of these assets are under hearing in the High Court.

Hesaraghatta grassland:
There is a rare grassland in Bengaluru city. It is not only a breeding ground for hundreds of species of birds, but there was a struggle for decades to save such a beautiful environment. He said that after he became the minister, despite many pressures, he declared an area of 5678 acres as the Greater Heeraghatta Protected Grassland to protect the rare grassland around Heeraghatta Lake.
Eminent figures from all walks of life have congratulated the government for this decision, forgetting party differences. Eshwar Khandre said that the joy and happiness that comes from doing such a good deed is unlimited.
